Burn Ban

Due to drought-lke conditions, the Dorchester County Council has placed an open-air burning ban in effect for all of Dorchester County effective the 18th day of October 2024 at 8 am.

All open-air burning is prohibited in Dorchester County with the exception of the following:

     1. Gas, charcoal grills, or fire pits. (Must be attended to at all times)

     2. the supervised burning of buildings or solid liquid, or gaseous fuels conducted under the direct control and supervision of qualifed instructors or a fire chief,                captain, or fire-line officer of a fire department in that jurisdiction.

   Any person violating the open-air burning ban is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall, upon conviction, be fined no less than $50.00 and no more than $500.00 for each offense.
